Overview
The Center for New North Carolinians Research Fellows (Center Fellows) are academics and community-based professionals who conduct participatory research projects to study integration processes with immigrant and refugee communities. Center Fellows seek equitable representation of immigrant colleagues and community members throughout all stages of research to ensure that community interests and goals are adequately studied. The CNNC Research Fellows program began in 2001 with a small group of faculty from UNCG and NC A&T that called itself the “Immigrant Research Support Group.” The network has now grown to approximately 50 different scholars and community practitioners. Center Fellows are primarily located within the Triad and represent several immigrant communities and institutions of higher education such as (but not limited to):
- The University of North Carolina at Greensboro
- North Carolina A&T State University
- Guilford College
- Elon University
- The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
- Wake Forest University
